How I Work
Welcome to my profile!
I am a Senior Accredited BACP therapist offering counselling and pastoral accompaniment via video or telephone to clergy across the dioceses covered by the JP2 Directory.
I aim to provide a professional and comfortable environment where you will feel welcome, where you can talk about your thoughts, feelings and concerns in confidence, and work towards gaining greater insight into yourself and the problems you are facing. As an integrative therapist I use a combination of different types of therapy, tailored to suit the unique needs and preferences of each individual client. I work based on an integrative, non-reductionist understanding of the human person, so rather than focusing solely on mental or emotional health I adopt a holistic approach, recognizing that the psychological, physical, spiritual, social and environmental aspects of life are all interconnected, and that problems in one area of life can affect all the others.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold an MSc degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy, and Relate’s Certificate in Relational Counselling. I am a Senior Accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), an Accredited member of the National Council of Integrative Psychotherapists, and a member of the International Coaching Federation. I am also a qualified clinical supervisor.
In addition to my private practice, I have previously worked as a therapist with several well-known organizations, including Mind, Relate, the Dove Service (a bereavement counselling charity) and as a staff counsellor for two NHS Trusts. I have also worked as the Counselling Service Manager for the NHS’ Talking Therapies service in Oxfordshire, as Clinical Director at Care first (an Employee Assistance Programme provider), as the Mental Health Service Delivery Manager at IPRS Health Ltd. and as Mental Health Clinical Lead at Bupa. Before training as a therapist, I worked in management roles in the finance industry for over 25 years. I have lived and worked in the UK, Asia and Australia, and am comfortable working with people from a diverse range of cultural backgrounds.
Availability
I schedule sessions during the daytime and early evenings, Monday to Friday, via video (Zoom or MS Teams) or telephone.
Ethical Framework
I work in accordance with the BACP’s Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.
Booking an Initial Session
I offer a 30-minute initial session – with no obligation and completely free of charge – which gives us the opportunity to meet each other and decide if we can work together. I won’t ask you to book any appointments at the initial consultation. Instead, I will aim to provide you with all the information you need to take away and think about before coming to a decision. If you decide you would like to work with me, you can then contact me to book your first session.
Fees & Payment
£40 per hour, payable in advance of each session via interbank transfer.
I provide a receipt for each session, and can also provide invoices if needed.
